Boots and Primark|Beauty Haul

Last weekend I saw myself back in Southampton for some important business. That business being I needed to go shopping. Oh yeah, and I had a job interview. But I don’t want to jinx anything so I’m not going to talk about it.

The city centre was so packed, of course I had to go on market/food/sale day. Tip: Always look like you can knock someone over who gets in your way at any minute.

So, I walk down the precinct with my “Kanye West face” on and had a plan. If you don’t know what “Kanye West face” is, it’s when I put some heavy Kanye West music through my headphones, stare straight ahead and wear a pout. It works at night, dark alleys and walking past old ladies…

With all this walking fiercely I had to pop to Boots to get some blister plasters, whilst I was there this (elder) lady came up to me and said “do you shop here?” I shrugged and said “sometimes.” She said “well you can have these then” and gave me two vouchers for £3 off any No7 Make up purchase and £5 of No7 Skincare. I felt like she practically handed me money, although I have never bought any No7 products. Well it was as good a time as any.

I must have spent a good hour walking around, swatching, talking and having stuff slapped on my face. Well not literally slapped. I finally plucked up the courage to ask one of the ladies at the No7 counter and had my face “matched” with a Matched Made device which paired me with “Cool Vanilla.” I didn’t want to commit to buying the foundation so she gave me a sample to try at home. We’ll see…

I did however use my vouchers and picked up No7 Beautifully Matte Make up Base.No7 Beautifully Matte Make up Base

I had run out of my favourite Rimmel Stay Matte Primer and after hunting the Rimmel display, and even naughtily pulled out the stock drawer at the bottom whilst no-one was looking, I couldn’t find any. I saw my No7 voucher in hand and thought YES. This was my opportunity to try something new. I tried the tester on my hand and rubbed it around, it instantly turned my skin a blurred matte. I was amazed and automatically reached for the sealed tube behind. Watch this space for a road test!

I also picked up in Boots the No7 Beautiful Skin Deep Pore Purifier.

You may well have noticed that I do love my face products. Anything that claims to purify my pores deeply make me want to buy it. When I sampled it in store, the tube had just a hole at the top like most tubes, so I was cautiously surprised when I opened it to find this “massager” head. I was cautious because because the previous product I tried, the Garnier Pure Active Exfo-Brusher Wash, made me break out so badly I wish I never laid eyes on it. Only the future will tell how well this performs…

Finally in Boots I took the plunge and bought Gimmie Brow from the Benefit stand after the “MUA” made me look like I had light brown cartoon brows!!!

I wanted to try the Gimmie Brow before I bought it because it’s quite expensive and to be honest, it’s not that big of a product. The lady took my previous perfectly sculpted brows to apply the gel(is it a gel?) and we both agreed that it was okay but not full enough. She suggested that I try BrowZings wax and powder because I have a noticeable chunk of brow missing after a phase when I was 15 that I deeply regret. This was where I thought she might as well got a brown calligraphy pen and drew it on. I decided that I prefer the more natural look of the gel, the one that made my brows look like actual hair.

After finally making it out of Boots, I went opposite to the Hunger Games arena that is Primark.

I went straight to the beauty section because I wanted to see their ranges of lipstick which is always different every time I go in. It got

I bought a gorgeous lipstick in the shade “Berry Blitz.”

It wasn’t that berry-ful(if that makes sense?) but it’s still a gorgeous colour and has a quite good pigment.

I also bought a similar colour lipstick in that shade “Suspense.”

This shade is a bit darker and is an awesome fall colour to take you into winter.

I saw this Velvet Matte lipstick crayon in the shade “Wine” and for £2 I had to have it.

I was going to give this to my mum because it’s the perfect shade for her skin tone, but then I remembered I give her a gift every day. My love.primark lips

I wanted to specifically buy some eye shadow for a change so I picked up a nude quad compact.

It was so hard to find one that was actually clean and looked like it hadn’t been previously messed with. Is it me or does it remind anyone of the Chanel eye shadow quad?Chanel-Eyeshadow-Quad-Raffinement-Spring-2013

I see what you did there Primark…

On my way back to the station I went in to one of my favourite coffee shops (don’t shoot me) Starbucks and bought this little beauty to add to my collection. Hey, it was in sale!Starbucks Mug

Have you found any gems lately? Have you tried any of these beauties? Let me know!

See you next time!
